About

Meet Michelle
Michelle received a certificate in completion for Qualification in Colour Analysis from the International Image Institute. This training was an in-depth study of colour analysis theory and process. She then followed this up by training in person with Karen Brunger for a hands-on training in colour analysis with clients and receiving a certificate for completion of Mastery in Colour Analysis from the International Image Institute
Michelle holds a B.Sc from the University of Manitoba. She brings her analytic mind to her colour analysis practice to ensure quality results. She also holds a B.Ed and M.Ed, from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba respectively. She brings her years of teaching excellence to her colour analysis practice so that her clients will better understand the steps in the process and how to best apply their results at the end of the session.

Meet Our System
Seasonal Colour Analysis
At PopColours we use the 23 Seasonal Flow Colour Analysis method developed by Karen Brunger at the International Image Institute in Toronto, Canada.
Please note that the 23 Seasonal Flow Colour Analysis system uses the names of the seasons as do other colour analysis systems, however a palette of the same name in another system may be different. Think of it this way, If you ask 5 different paint companies to name a colour, you will likely get 5 different names and any artist can tell you that two cerulean blues from different paint companies are not the same. Therefore, if you get colour analysed in a different system the name of your colour palette may differ but it doesn't mean that one is wrong and the other is right.

Meet Colour Theory
Dimensions of Colour
The 23 seasonal colour palettes are based on the three dimensions of colour which, according to Albert H. Munsell , are: hue, value and chroma.
The way in which a colour is perceived is influenced by the colour that it interacts with and therefore the same colour may be preceived differently depending on the surrounding colours. This perception of colour is described in the work of Josef Albers .

Meet Our Process
Fabric Draping
The process of determining your colour season begins by the analyst draping different colour fabrics under your face and comparing the results. We are looking to see which colours make you look your best. We will explain each step of the process and the results during your session.
Please come to your personal colour analysis session makeup free. Before your session we will get you to remove any jewelry and provide a white covering for your hair and clothing if necessary.

Meet the Steps
Three Step Process
We begin by determining if your undertone is warm or cool. Afterwards, we determine your home season (Winter, Spring, Summer, or Autumn). Finally, we determine your subseason based on the three dimensions of colour.
At the end of the session, we will drape you in your PopColours and discuss your palette with you and how you can use this information when shopping for clothes.
